The headline surprised us… okay, most of us. Our Tommie somehow knew changes were coming.
In brief, it was reported that GE is considering selling its lighting unit, which is now a small and shrinking business that consists of residential LED lighting and connected-home technology in North America. However, GE is planning on keeping a separate business, called Current, that provides commercial LED lighting.
AWSI, he’s got a good point. GE had become a mish-mash of businesses. Still, we hope over a hundred years of history doesn’t disappear with this line of business.

In case you were wondering, the NY Times noted: Back in the day, Tommie (AKA Edison) created a lamp that lasted longer and required less power than previous designs that were impractical for everyday use. He also, through his Edison Electrical Light Company (today, General Electric), built a system of power stations to deliver the electricity needed to run his bulbs.
