AWSI Musings: iPod Sunsets…

We introduced the “SNapkin” concept in this post. Here’s another to peruse and ponder.  Enjoy!—The Gang

Seems strange to us that in the summer where the iPod got some fantastic exposure (via the movie “Baby Driver“), that it would be heading off into the sunset. At least, that’s what we learned from this Wired story.

AWSI, the iPod was an amazing breakthrough — making music more portable than ever. Now if you ask our buddy Tommie here, he’ll argue that sound quality diminished with the iPod music format. Spoken like a true scientist (albeit a deaf one, so go fig). Doc and our Gang here truly dig the technology and what it enabled.

We’ve watched Annie take her tiny nano to the golf course and on road trips (plugging into her TDI’s sound system), and it really makes a difference in her life. No doubt she’ll only give it up once it no longer works. In fact, we wouldn’t be surprised if she purchases a backup or two for Jedemi. The Sony Walkman used to be the end-all / be-all in portable music. The iPod was a different sport entirely with Apple really causing an industry-shifting, lifestyle change.

While researching this piece, we found this the original ad for the iPod.

This guy was doing the “Silhouette” ad moves 3 years before that campaign hit. Awesome!

Here’s a compilation of ads. Enjoy!
